-- CALGARY STAMPEDE --

DATE: JULY 13th, 2012
TIME: 8 pm
WHERE: Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary, Alberta

Music and hockey, hockey and music -- Theo Fleury has long loved both. The public is well aware of his storied hockey career and now Theo is proudly letting the world in on his other passion…country music.

“I’m a proud Metis person and we have music in our blood. My grandfather was an amazing fiddle player; my grandmother was a champion jigger. My father and uncles would gather often in my youth to play, sing and create wonderful harmonies. Music has been around me for generations and I’m excited to share this passion with my fans!” says Theo Fleury.

Theo has been recently working with some great musicians to create a unique new sound with an age old familiar feel -- he calls it ‘Hockey Tonk’, a mixture of his life experiences on and off the ice combined with his love of country music. From original tunes like “This Ain’t My First Rodeo”, “As The Story Goes” and “The Bull” to Buck Owen’s classic “Made In Japan”, fans and critics alike who have had a sneak peek all love it and now, debuting at the Johnny Reid concert on July 13th at the Calgary Saddledome, Theo will bring it all home.

“I met Theo over 20 years ago. I knew he was an amazing hockey player, and when I heard his music I knew he had the skills to become a bona fide musical artist,” says Ron Sakamoto of Sakamoto Entertainment. Mr. Sakamoto is promoting Theo’s musical career across Canada.

Johnny Reid is happy to give Theo the opportunity to play in front of thousands in the Saddledome for the 100th Anniversary of the Calgary Stampede. “It’s a real special occasion and if Theo can perform half as good on stage as he did on the ice as a Calgary Flames superstar, he’ll be off to the races as a musical artist. I’m glad to help Theo and give him a chance,” says Reid.

Tickets can be purchased to hear Theo Fleury debut at Johnny Reid’s concert on July 13th through Ticketmaster.
